Subaru WRX STi British rally ace Mark Higgins has driven his specially built Subaru WRX STi to a new Isle of Man TT lap record for a car.
He scooted around the 59.55km road course in 17min 35.139sec, at times hitting 275km/h to break the time he set last year by almost two minutes.
His time in 2015 was 19min 26sec and his average speed was 187.4km/h. His average speed in the STi this year was 208.54km/h.
The all-wheel-drive Subaru WRX STi was dubbed the “Time Attack” car and was jointly developed between Subaru of America, Britain’s ProDrive, and Subaru Tecnica International (STi) to deliver almost 450kW from its boosted 2.5-litre boxer engine.
