Rolls-Royce’s Vision Next 100 concept is a product of parent company BMW’s centenary celebrations. But it isn’t a ‘how clever are we’ project, rather a peek at how Rolls-Royce sees luxury transport in 20 or 30 years: zero emissions, full autonomy, and artificial intelligence that learns things like drivers’ preferred routes and restaurants. There’s no steering wheel or pedals, which Rolls-Royce claims are “superfluous in this model.” Steering, accelerating, braking are all done by artificial intelligence, or Eleanor, the “ethereal concierge.” In this video, Rolls-Royce design director Giles Taylor talks about the project.
