The people at Porsche NZ will try their best to meet demand for a half-million dollar version of the 911 Turbo S – but orders are likely to be thin on the ground anyway.
“New Zealand allocation is subject to demand,” said Porsche NZ sales and marketing manager Jamie Taylor. “We will endeavour to fill what orders we can.”
The car is the most powerful 911 Turbo S yet, a 330km/h flyer limited to worldwide production of 500 units and priced in NZ from $542,000.
Porsche calls it the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series. It comes with specially developed everything, including signature luggage – designed around dimensions of the ‘boot’ up front – and a chronograph wristwatch from the Porsche Design studio in Austria.
Powering the Exclusive is a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine, a reworked version of the standard Turbo S powerplant. It’s good for 446kW of power and 750Nm of torque, 19kW and 50Nm more than the Turbo S unit has to offer.
Porsche says the Exclusive can scoot from 0-100km/h in 2.9 seconds and on to 200km/h in 9.6 seconds. Town and around fuel use is a claimed 9.1 litres/100km, the same as the standard Turbo S.
Among the list of special offerings for the Exclusive is a Golden Yellow Metallic paint job that extends to the 20-inch wheels. There is also carbon-fibre everywhere – the roof, bonnet, side skirts, rear air scoop, cabin. A carbon-fibre weave in the cabin has a copper thread running through it.
The 18-way adjustable front seats are trimmed in perforated leather, with the inside layer featuring two Golden Yellow stripes. The seams and Turbo S lettering are in the same Golden Yellow, a hue that features in the Alcantara roof lining.
The rear view is characterised by the rear wing of the Turbo Aerokit, the new rear apron, the air scoop in carbon and the exhaust system with two twin tailpipes in black stainless steel.
The wings are decorated with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur plates. In addition to Golden Yellow Metallic, the vehicle is offered in a range of what Porshe described as “carefully selected exterior colours.”
Spare a thought for the Aussies queueing up to get into the car – Australia’s luxury car tax pushes up the price to $A590,700, the equivalent of $NZ615,300.
