There is debate about what’s under the bonnet of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, the car that will replace the CL-Class. Those who have spied it testing at the Nurburgring reckon it’s using a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, despite reports the engine is to be shelved. Others say it’s a V12, a detuned version of the 6.0-litre twin-turbo 465kW/1000Nm unit Benz has confirmed will go into the flagship S-Class, the four-door S65 AMG.
