Not long ago driving an electric vehicle the roughly 1000km from Sydney to Melbourne took two days, with an overnight stop and a lot of fiddling about. No longer, now that EV maker Tesla has set up fast charge stations along the way, with the main ones at Goulburn (pictured) and the NSW/Victoria border town of Albury-Wodonga. The stations are described as ‘superchargers’ that can power up battery packs to 100 per cent in 30 minutes. The journey for Tesla S sedan drivers can now take under 12 hours.
