The McLaren P1 LM has set a record lap of the Nurburgring for a road-legal production vehicle. This video shows former Indianapolis champion Kenny Brack piloting the P1 LM around the circuit in 6minutes 43.2 seconds – 2.7 seconds quicker than China’s all-electric Nio EP9 managed earlier this month. The P1 LM is a road-legal version of the P1 GTR, and was developed by Lanzante Motorsport with the blessing and support of McLaren. It has a hybrid drivetrain based around a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine and uses 99-octane unleaded petrol for a total output of 735kW. The car that set the record was actually an XP1 LM, a prototype of the final production vehicle. Lanzante say it is identical to the vehicles offered up for sale. Only five P1 LM coupes were built for sale with an original sale price said to be around NZ$6m.
