From America’s Road & Track magazine comes a working 3D-printed replica of Subaru’s flat-four engine, scaled down to 35 per cent. It was put together by a fellow named Eric Harrell, who has shared its files to allow those with a 3D printer to print out their own version. Harrell has also 3D-printed a replica of the entire driveline from a 1980s Toyota truck. Now they are talking up the educational potential of a 3D-printed replica like this. Students learning how to work on cars would find it much easier to take apart and examine in a classroom setting than, say, a full-size engine.
