We all knew it was in the works, but if you had any kind of doubts, we now have proof that Aston Martin is indeed preparing a convertible version of its new Vanquish named the Volante. Our spies snared a very thinly disguised prototype of the Vanquish Volante in Northern Sweden undergoing winter testing. The only part of the car hidden from view was the boot lid as Aston Martin’s engineers had placed a fake cover over the integrated spoiler. Like every other Volante model in Aston’s range, the open-top version of the Vanquish features a retractable fabric hood that stows away between the passenger compartment and the boot area. Under the bonnet, you will find the same 5.9-litre V12 engine generating 565 hp and 620 Nm of peak torque connected to a 6-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission driving the rear wheels as on the coupe model.
